"Placeholders" (2012)
Installation as a work in progress at Stasjon-K in connection with a residency at KinoKino Center for Art and Film, Norway (2012)
Art work:
Materials: paper, cut outs, prints, video projector, cardboards.
In a 60 m2 space Kirsten set out to experiment with projected image and hand crafted collage in a process developing organically. The processes that take place when creating collage or animated work digitally are often invisible. Placeholders is an attempt at bringing digital processes into the real space, and using analogue ways of working along with digital.
Images from the actual West Norwegian surroundings of Sandnes in the vicinity of Stavanger, are joined with cut outs from magazines of places and people from far- away places in collages.Kirsten was considering the concept of the much talked about, but less often localised global village, and the notion of the world as a continously shrinking place, as was wondering what a small place really is.
