Art work: "Crystal Ball"

Video work DV PAL, Dur. 5 minutes, sound: an interview / conversation between visual artist Kristine Agergaard and Kirsten Otzen Keck recorded as several conversations in the summer of 2013.The video is projected onto a model.

An image from approximately late 1940's -1950s, shows two men in a conversation, with a big, dark glass ball between them.It dates back to an era in which economic expansion affected the way the world is perceived. The world is vast and has white spots to explore. Exotic and far away places and people are photographed, measured, observed, geometricized and made familiar and thereby drawn closer by.

This movement is projected into the future, seen from the perspective of the era after world war II, where the globe is shrinking, time zones have collapsed, and become one on going "now".

In this future, where the globe is becoming a small place, the conversation is revived. Two persons are trying to figure out where they are, and how they can get a grasp of distances and time, as they agree, that space is uncerstood from the indside (being)  as well as from the outside (geometricized symbolic form and maps). Circles and Spheres.

The collage images in the piece are made from images from the 40's and 50's, while the conversation is recorded in the future inside the not precisely located crystal ball.
